SWAMPSCOTT — This year’s Town Meeting will be here before you know it and town officials want to hear your feedback ahead of time. This can be done through an online platform called “Community_inPUT.”
“Community_inPUT” was recently launched for the people of Swampscott by the town and Tufts University. The platform allows community members to voice their “grievances and offer solutions,” according to Tufts University Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning Justin Hollander.
“The unique aspect of this platform is the use of a secure and transparent voting system that rewards the grievance or solution with the highest amount of votes,” Hollander wrote in a Facebook post announcing the platform.
The goal of the “Community_inPUT” project is to provide a more efficient way for the people of Swampscott to communicate with town officials, according to Hollander.
“By participating in this new kind of engagement, residents can help Town officials understand community opinions and translate those ideas into a proposal at May’s Town Meeting,” he wrote.
Those who would like to participate can fill out a survey at go.tufts.edu/Swampscott_Input. After it is completed, a Tufts student will reach out and provide tokens that can be used to participate and earn awards, according to Hollander.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for you to have your voice heard and make a real impact in your community,” he wrote.
