LYNN – Juan Mora, 34, was arraigned in Lynn District Court on Thursday on charges connected to a large-scale drug trafficking operation, according to a press release from the attorney general’s office.
Mora was charged with two counts of trafficking 200 grams or more of fentanyl, one count of trafficking 100 grams or more of cocaine, one count of carrying a firearm, two counts of possession of ammunition without an FID card, and one count of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is also charged as an armed career criminal, which would provide a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison if he is found guilty.
His arrest last Wednesday was a combined effort between the attorney general’s New England Strike Force, which includes state police assigned to the attorney general’s office and state police assigned to the Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team North (CINRET-North), and the Lynn Drug Task Force. Search warrants of a Lynn stash house and four cars believed to have been operating as drug delivery vehicles were executed before Mora’s arrest.
The attorney general’s Fentanyl Strike Force allegedly conducted 19 controlled purchases of fentanyl from Mora during an eight-month long investigation. The attorney general’s office claims that Mora was bringing a significant amount of drugs into Essex, Middlesex, and Suffolk Counties through a large-scale drug trafficking organization, which he was running.
The press release said that during the investigation, more than two and a half kilograms of fentanyl, 150 grams of cocaine, a firearm, 15 rounds of ammunition, and roughly $62,000 cash were recovered.
Deputy Division Chief Christina Ronan is prosecuting the case “with assistance from analysts Dan McCarthy and Jill Bodreau, all of the AG’s Enterprise, and the Major and Cyber Crimes Division,” according to the press release.
Mora’s bail has been set at $200,000 and he is due back in court for a probable cause hearing on May 5.
