LOS ANGELES — Eagle-eyed Saugonians may have noticed a local connection while watching Wrestlemania 39 this weekend.
John Cena, the wrestler-turned-actor who has starred in box-office smashes like “F9” and “The Suicide Squad,” donned a pair of limited-edition, $495 Kowloon sneakers at the annual event. Cena, a West Newbury native, earned a shoutout from the iconic restaurant on social media.
“Thank you John Cena for wearing our Kowloon Nike Sneakers at Wrestlemania 39 in LA!” the restaurant wrote.
The limited edition sneakers were designed by local sneaker artist Sway, and sold out in just two days after being released in February.
