The Lynn Jets lacrosse team found itself in a tight home game against Somerville Thursday, holding a slim 4-3 lead at halftime. Lynn took control of the game in the second half, however, outscoring Somerville 8-4 en route to a 12-7 victory.
Lynn head coach Peter Pappagianopoulos felt once his team settled in, it was the difference in the game.
“We didn’t start out very well, as Somerville sped us up in the first half,” Pappagianopoulos said. “Our goalie, Christian Serino, really did a good job limiting Somerville and once we calmed down, we got a lot of good looks and played really well. Our depth really showed in the second half.”
Steven DiFilippo led the way for the Jets, scoring a game-high five goals while adding an assist. Ryan Dunn (3 goals, 1 assist) and John Crowley (2 goals, 1 assist) also had strong showings for Lynn.
Jets defenseman Yoel Sosa scored his first varsity goal, going end-to-end before firing a shot past Somerville’s goalie. Lynn improved its record to 2-3 and looks to get to the .500 mark against Malden on Tuesday.
