LYNN — Singer-songwriter Jon Waterman will be presenting “Cro-Magnon Blues: History and Legends through Song” at the Walnut Street Café in Lynn on Saturday. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
“The program of songs and history visits some fascinating characters and events throughout world history from the Stone Age to modern times,” a press release from Waterman said. “Some of the subjects include the first known author, an epic medieval battle, a feared bandit from the Old West, a great ship disaster, a renowned radio broadcast, and more.”
This program is part of a series called “Live Music Making History Live” and was funded in part by a grant from the Lynn Cultural Council.
“Celebrating history by finding new ways to retell stories from our past is a way of bringing people together and learning to understand each other and ourselves — and it’s been a form of entertainment in every culture throughout history,” Waterman said. “This is a fun and unique show with good songs and intriguing stories — happening in a friendly neighborhood café here in Lynn.”
