Lynn Classical’s baseball team moved to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the GBL with an impressive outing Monday winning 12-0. Cole Finnigan was on the mound and didn’t disappoint, pitching four shutout innings with eight strikeouts. Darnell Leon and TJ Walsh both went 2-for-4, and each scored twice. Ryan Dugan was 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBI. The Rams next game is on Wednesday against Revere.

It was a day to forget for the Eagles as they came across a tough Boston College High team. Cam LaGrassa went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Will Mueller and Alex Cianciaruso pitched an inning each, and both recorded two strikeouts for the Eagles.

The Magicians got back in the win column with an emphatic victory in enemy territory. Marblehead scored 15 runs on only six hits. Shane Keough was 2-for-3 with four RBI. Brooks Keefe contributed by bringing in two runners with a hit.

Lynnfield took full advantage of an East Boston team that was missing its pitcher. Morgan Hubbard had three singles and a sacrifice fly in addition to four RBI. Abi Travers and Lily Williams had two hits apiece for the Pioneers. Sophia Brown pitched five innings, striking out six while only giving up three hits.

Despite the final score, it was a close game going into the fifth inning with the Sachems trailing 3-2. Head coach Steve Almquist said the team had some “defensive lapses” and gave Pentucket “a few unearned runs.” Abby Enwright got her first varsity start. Enwright pitched all seven innings and struck out four batters. Out of the eight runs, only four were earned.

The Tigers prevailed in a high-scoring game against BCCS Charter. Junior Angelina Martin struck out eight batters, including two important ones in the seventh inning. Trailing by six runs in the bottom of the second, eighth grader Genevieve McCafferty hit a grand slam to center-field. McCafferty finished the game going 5-for-6 with eight RBI. Freshman Zoe Wilson was 6-for-7 with four RBI.

The Pioneers were clinical on Monday, making the most of their chances. Lynnfield will travel to Dracut on Tuesday to continue its winning ways, while St. Mary’s travels to Bishop Stang on Wednesday.

St. Mary’s defended home turf with a strong performance. Ava Nason led all scorers with four goals. Jill Kirby contributed with three goals and an assist. Payton Quirk made seven saves and Emma Gustin also made two stops to help propel the Spartans to another victory.

Third singles Maddie Sieve won her match 6-1, 6-3. First doubles Leticia Marafon and Lily Alves also took home the win 6-1, 6-3.

In a competitive matchup, the Tanners walked away victorious. Peabody first and second singles lost, meaning they needed a clean sweep to rescue the win. Third singles Valentina Goga kept the Tanners alive winning 6-2, 6-0 increasing her individual record to 36-2. First doubles Jill McGrath and Theodosia Kourtelidis were victorious in the third set after a grueling back-and-forth battle against a strong Gloucester duo to win the match for the Tanners 7-6, 5-7, 6-2. Then it was second doubles Jessica Demiri and Vanessa Kolani who capped off a great comeback, winning 6-0, 6-2.

Peabody’s boys track team pulled off an impressive victory over Beverly. Thrower Alex Jackson threw a 54’4.75 in the shot put and 157’11 in the discus to help propel the Tanners to victory.
