To the editor:
My name is Jim Carrigan, former Massachusetts state representative and senator, and I have known Stefanie Neumann and her family for many years. Both Stefanie’s parents were very active serving Swampscott, and I was very pleased when Stefanie reached out to me to say that she’d decided to continue in her parents’ footsteps and serve the residents by running for the Select Board.
Stefanie’s biography is notable. She received her Bachelor of Arts in a double-major of astronomy and physics at Bryn Mawr College, and then she earned a master’s and a doctorate in biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She served our country by working with the Department of Defense on classified projects for which she received several top-secret clearances.
She has been a successful entrepreneur with her own business, and has served on a council in a national nonprofit organization where her analytical abilities as an engineer, her organizational skills, and her ability to work in collaborative environments have prepared Stefanie for the challenges she’ll encounter as a Select Board member.
I know Stefanie to be hard-working and focused, and most importantly, to be an independent thinker. She has no agenda except to be honest, transparent, and available to the residents in town. Her decision-making process will be based on practicality and common sense.
Swampscott is at a pivotal time in its history. Its Select Board lacks civility and decorum and Stefanie wants to help change that culture and make the residents proud of who is serving them on this important board.
I urge you to vote for Stefanie Neumann on Tuesday, April 25; you will be glad that you did.
