You know what I’ve been thinking? It was a team effort for the Classical baseball team this past week – there’s no doubt about it. The Rams scored 29 runs en route to a 3-0 week under head coach Mark Zukowski. That said, if you really, really had to pick an Athlete of the Week, it’d be Darnell Leon. Let’s start with what was (relatively) an easy 12-0 win against Chelsea. Here’s the catch, however – Leon did it on both ends. On offense, he went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, and in one inning of relief, struck out three. How’s that for an all-around performance? Leon was relatively quiet in Classical’s 8-6 win against Revere, but was right back at it on Friday. In a 9-3 win against Medford, Leon registered one of his best career performances. The lefty went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, and, more importantly, his performance helped catapult Classical to a 9-1 record. So, next up is a home game against Everett on Wednesday. Will Leon and Classical reach double-digits in wins? I’ll see you then. Darnell, good week.
