You know what I’ve been thinking? All right, this one’s a bit of a curveball – no baseball pun intended – but Lynn Tech’s baseball team is my Team of the Week. That’s not because the Tigers won every game, but because they lost their first before storming back with two wins. Yes, in a road matchup against Mystic Valley, Tech lost 13-3. A 10-run defeat isn’t an easy one to swallow, but coach Eddie Lewis said “things are going to start clicking for us” after the game. Well, he was right. It takes resilience to respond from that, and Tech answered with wins against Minuteman (12-6) and Salem Academy (15-1) – aka, a 27-run explosion in a back-to-back statement. Against Minuteman, Dylan Difillippo had nine strikeouts, while Dylan Nordyke,
Eddie Lewis, and Chris Boyd all recorded multi-hit games. Two days later, Will McCafferty registered 11 strikeouts, while Colin Newhall led the way offensively, going 3-for-3. To sum up – yes, Lewis was correct. After Saturday’s win against Salem Academy, he said his team’s chemistry is at an “all-time high” right now, and personally, I can’t wait to see what Tech does the rest of the season. Tigers, good week.
