What a back-to-back for Lynn

Home or away, rain or shine – there was nothing, and I mean, nothing, stopping the Lynn Jets lacrosse team the last two days.

Monday and Tuesday provided some entertaining matchups, and a good test for Lynn. That said, the Jets flew away with victories both nights.

No one likes a Monday, but it’s a lot better when you win 13-6, which is exactly what Lynn did against Salem at Manning Field.

Steven DiFilippo (4 goals) led the way, followed by his partners-in-crime Ryan Dunn (3) and John Crowley (2). Trey Rossetti (2) and Ian Brown (1) also scored, but there was one more storyline missing.

Jahir Maldonado scored his first career goal against Salem, something coach Peter Pappagianopoulos loved to see. Nate Sisson (3 assists), Dunn (1), and Brian Boisson (1) were the main playmakers.

Come Tuesday, it was time for Somerville in enemy territory. Lynn won 10-4, upping its record to 7-4 overall despite Mother Nature’s interference.

“Especially with the weather, we totally fought through it,” Pappagianopoulos said. “It was a team effort.”

It certainly was. Nick Costa scored a hat-trick in the first quarter to go with his assist.

“He got us off to a good run early,” Pappagianopoulos said. “We maintained it.”

DiFilippo delivered another strong performance with two goals and two assists, while Sisson kept his hot hand with a goal and four assists. Crowley also dominated with four goals.

Maegen Baker racked up an assist, and Christian Serino stood strong between the pipes with 13 saves.

“He played great today,” Pappagianopoulos said. “He’s a great goaltender for us.”

Amesbury awaits on Monday, a home game beginning at 7 p.m. From there, Lynn takes on Northeast Metro and Saugus twice.

Pappagianopoulos said the next few games will be tough, but looks forward to the challenge.

“We’ll see what happens over the next couple weeks,” Pappagianopoulos said.
