Swampscott’s girls lacrosse team (7-2) put it all together against Gloucester on Thursday, and boy, does the box score surely show it.

In the 17-6 victory, Avery Laundry scored six goals, while Sophia Ciciotti, Coco Clopton, and Brooke Waters all registered hat-tricks. Abby Eichler went home with a goal and two assists, while Fiona Keaney also found the back of the net.

Lilah Caplan made seven big saves on 15 shots, and looks to lead her team again in Peabody on Monday.

The Peabody girls lacrosse team (7-4) fought hard, but in the end, Masco retained its spot as the Northeastern Conference’s top team.

Peabody’s Brooke Lomasney continued her stellar season, scoring four goals to go with her three assists. Ally Bettencourt scored twice to go with an assist, and Madi Barrett went home with a goal and an assist.

Leading the way for the Magicians were Caitlin Ryan (1 goal), Caroline Scroope (1 goal, 1 assist), and Isabelle Ferrante (1 goal).

The Bishop Fenwick baseball team (7-3) faced a tough Malden Catholic group on Thursday, but it wasn’t so tough to Fenwick, which won 7-0 in enemy territory.

Mikey Geissler got the start for the Crusaders, going six innings and striking out 10. Nick Villano led the charge offensively, going 3-for-3, and Fenwick scored five runs in the fifth inning to headline the scoring.

BOYS LACROSSE

BC High 14
St. John’s Prep 9

The St. John’s Prep lacrosse team (11-2) couldn’t keep up with BC High on Thursday, as coach John Pynchon said his Eagles were outplayed across the board.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, they only won the turnover category. That said, Chris Esposito won 11 faceoffs, Matt Morrow and Cam McCarthy each scored hat-tricks, and Jake Vana added two goals.

GIRLS TENNIS

Peabody 5
Saugus 0

The Peabody girls tennis team took care of business, winning in straight sets. Jessica Chau (6-3, 6-3), Yasmine Giacalone (6-0, 6-0), and Valentina Goga (6-1, 6-0) got the job done in singles, while Jill McGrath and Theodosia Kourtelidis (6-3, 6-1) did so in doubles.

The matchup of the day came in second doubles, and, in the end, Efthyghia Kourtelidis and Argiro Psyhogios won in the final set (6-1, 4-6, 7-5) for their first win as a varsity duo.

Manchester 5
Marblehead 0

Pauline Geissler, Andrea Potvin, and Charly Cooper all had their moments in singles play, but Marblehead’s girls tennis team (5-3) ran into a tough group in Manchester.

In doubles, Courtney Yoder and Aviva Bornstein lost a close match (6-7, 5-7), while Aoife Bresnahan and Lucia Levin fell short in second doubles (0-6, 5-7).

“We always have tight matches with Manchester, and today was no exception,” Marblehead coach Tracy Ackerman said. “Our second doubles made some adjustments and played a great second set. First doubles lost by inches [and] it was a super competitive match with both teams playing aggressively.”
