LTE: What’s going on with Lynn leaders?

To the editor

May 7, 2023 by To the editor

To the editor:

I have been living in Lynn practically my whole life and have never seen our city officials so disengaged with their duties.

Every time you call them for a problem they tell you “OK,” but they never show up. I have called about people parking on a residents-only street, but many times received slow responses. I have called about people parking commercial vehicles on the street and received no response. As I am writing you this letter right now, there are three commercial vehicles parked outside in residents’ spots. I call about potholes — there’s at least five out there right now.

I have never been so disappointed with these officials. It’s like nobody cares.

I see elderly people park two blocks away from their homes because no one is enforcing the laws that we pay people to enforce. I live by the Ford School and my last complaint is the traffic in the morning. You can’t get out because the street is blocked since people park in the middle of it to walk their kids into the school. There is never a policeman around.

So, I am calling on the Lynn Police Department, the Parking Department, and the Department of Public Works to please help us keep Lynn safe. And let me remind you this is not just a day job; it’s also at night. I am writing to let you know this is how people feel on my street.

Sincerely,

Jeff Snow
Lynn resident
