Lynn youth summer job applications are open

LYNN — The Department of Development’s youth summer job applications for the city are open and applicants must apply by May 26, according to lynnma.gov. The applications can be found on the city’s website on the Personnel Department’s current job postings page.

Applicants must be 16 to 21 years old. The program will run from July 5 through Aug. 18.

The maximum number of hours youth can work is 160, or 26 hours per week over the six weeks, according to lynnma.gov. Youth workers will earn $16.25 per hour.

“Positions are based on the applicant’s interests,” the program’s flier reads. “Youth will be matched to local nonprofit agencies, businesses, schools, City Hall departments, and more.”

Any applicant interested in a supervisor position must submit a resume.

Mayor Jared Nicholson took to social media to speak about the program.

“There are so many opportunities this summer for our youth to create a positive impact in our community,” Nicholson said in a video posted to his Twitter account.

The program, he said, helps youth build skills that are necessary “throughout their professional growth.”

“Providing jobs for youth this summer is a top priority for us, a great opportunity for everybody involved, and we hope you reach out or (tell) someone you know that this opportunity is available,” Nicholson said. “If you’re interested in joining the team this summer, please apply as soon as possible.”
