St. Mary’s softball team (12-1) completed a season sweep of Bishop Fenwick on Thursday, winning 2-1 on the road. Gabriella Marichal registered the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Anna Fringuelli – per usual – dominated, retiring eight and allowing just two hits across her complete game. She also pitched out of two bases-loaded jams, and recorded a double at the plate.
Fenwick held a 1-0 lead in the fourth – the same inning St. Mary’s scored both of its runs.
SOFTBALL

Lynnfield 7
Ava Marotta had three hits and drove in a pair while Morgan Hubbard hit a two-run single, but Lynnfield’s softball team (8-6) fell to the Clippers on Thursday.
The defeat brought an end to a four-game winning streak, but the Pioneers look to rebound Monday in a home game against Georgetown (4 p.m.). It’s also Lynnfield’s senior day.

Marblehead’s softball team was led by Isabel Motensen who went 2-for-3 at the plate, but the Magicians failed to do much more against Wakefield.

It’s a good day when you beat rival Bishop Fenwick, and an even better one when you win your fourth straight game – that’s what St. Mary’s baseball team (8-6) did Thursday.
Josh Doney got the start on the hill, allowing just four hits and retiring six. Isaiah Weston (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Michael Demaino (2 hits, 1 run) led St. Mary’s offense.
Nick Villano hit a double for Fenwick, and Mike Geissler threw five strikeouts across 4 1/3 innings.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Swampscott 19
Salem 1
Swampscott’s girls lacrosse team (9-3) took care of business on Thursday, beating Salem 19-1 in enemy territory. Brooke Waters (5 goals) and Abby Eichler (4) led a star-studded Swampscott offense.
Coco Clopton and Lilly Johnson each scored twice, while Chloe Puzzo registered a goal and two assists. Lilah Caplan and Vivian Shaffnit each made two saves for Swampscott.
The Big Blue host Saugus for senior day on Monday.

Marblehead 9
Peabody’s girls lacrosse team flew past Marblehead (4-11) as Caitlin Snow (12 saves), Brooke Lomasney (8 goals), and Siobhan Smith (5 ground balls) led the way.
Ramona Gillett (4 goals) and Ramona Gillett (3) impressed offensively for Marblehead, while Kate Santesanio stood strong between the pipes with 10 saves.
BOYS TENNIS

Both teams were undefeated in the Cape Ann League heading in, but Lynnfield (8-0 in CAL) was the one standing a few hours later. Dan Levin won a thriller and remained undefeated in singles – as did Shea McCarthy in second singles. Shlok Kudrimoti won a long, steady match in third singles, and the undefeated doubles team of Russ Kasdon and Rafik Khodr, once again, found victory.
On a side note, Lynnfield celebrated by going out for ice cream.

Singles dominance was the theme of Thursday’s match between St. Mary’s and Salem. The Spartans cooked the Witches with Mark Wood (6-1, 6-0), Thomas Shea (6-1, 6-3), and
Griffin L’Italien (6-0, 6-2) all playing well.
Chris Lutchman and Brendan Zollo won 6-0, 6-0 in first doubles, and that was all the Spartans needed to scare away the Witches. Salem’s lone point came as Rowan Sharwood and Dan Pimemtel fell for St. Mary’s in second doubles.

With rain interfering throughout, it was no problem for Marblehead’s boys tennis team (10-2) against Malden Catholic. Austin Bacon had his varsity debut in singles, winning 6-1, 6-1.
Jost Eggebrecht and Etan Farfel impressed in back-to-back singles matches, while the duos of Jayden Janock-Anthony Vizy and Luke Miller-Matthew Sherf cruised in doubles.
Marblehead moved to 8-0 in the Northeastern Conference.
GIRLS TENNIS

Classical 1
Classical’s Diana Quach and Rachana Dhach won a doubles matchup 6-0, 6-0 against Winthrop on Thursday, but it wasn’t enough to take down Winthrop. The Rams host Somerville at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Marblehead’s girls tennis team (9-1 in NEC) continued its stellar season with a 5-0 triumph against Saugus on Thursday.
As eight-game sets were played to combat rain, Pauline Geissler, Andrea Potvin, and Charly Cooper all won in singles without conceding a point. In doubles, Courtney Yoder and Lucia Levin, as well as Sami Dosch and Reese Friedman got the job done to complete the sweep.
TRACK AND FIELD
Lynn Tech’s boys track team (5-0) won the Commonwealth Atlantic Conference championship with a thrilling win against Mystic Valley (90-48) on Thursday. Big winners for Tech were Anthoney Perez (first place in the 1-mile and 2-mile) and Ryan Mendez (first place in the 100m and 200m). Eleven second places and eight third places helped lift the Tigers to victory.
The Lady Tigers (4-1) lost to undefeated Mystic Valley 81-54, but Jireilis DeJesus (200m) and Emely DeJesus (shot put) impressed nonetheless with first place finishes.
