SAUGUS — A new tradition is coming to Breakheart Reservation next Sunday, May 21, with the first annual spring fun run/walk.
A $10 donation to the Friends of Breakheart Reservation is requested to enter the 5K run or 3K walk. All proceeds from the race will go to the Friends of Breakheart to support park activities and sponsor future events. Registration for the event begins at 9:30 a.m., and the race will start at 10 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the fastest male and female runners.
A website detailing the town’s nonprofit organizations describes the Friends of Breakheart as a “volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation and improvement of Breakheart Reservation.”
The event is sponsored by Peter A. Rossetti Insurance and the Friends of Breakheart, of which Rossetti is a member.
The fun run/walk is the latest in a series of events sponsored by the organization throughout the year, which also include a turkey trot in the fall, a visit from Santa just before Christmas, and Maple Sugarin’ in March.
