You know what I’ve been thinking? Every time I cover a game or check a box score, St. Mary’s Anna Fringuelli steals the show. The right-handed pitcher has made defensive innings go by in a flash for the Spartans, and is an elite hitter at the plate. Not that I have to say it, but she’s played a strong role in St. Mary’s success, a team currently enjoying a 12-1 record.
Well, last week was no exception. In a 2-1 finish against Catholic Central opponent Bishop Feehan, Fringuelli did it on both ends. She threw seven strikeouts and allowed just two hits across a complete game, while driving in both St. Mary’s runs.
Fast forward to Thursday, and she did it again at Fenwick High. Fringuelli retired eight and allowed just two hits across another complete game – not to mention, she escaped two bases-loaded jams. A double at the plate was the icing on the cake for Fringuelli against the Crusaders.
St. Mary’s hosts Concord-Carlisle at 7 p.m. on Monday, where Fringuelli looks to keep her, well, season-long hot streak intact.
