You know what I’ve been thinking? Greatness isn’t measured by brief success, but rather, longevity. This Peabody track and field team has been successful for so long, that you sometimes forget how dominant a track program can really be. Well, this weekend was no exception as the Tanners are now champions of the dual meet season, and finished undefeated in the Northeastern Conference (Dunn).
With coach Fernando Braz doing his thing at the helm, his players got it done yet again. Considering there were three school records from Alex Jackson (discus), Alessandra Forgione (javelin), and Aliyah Callahan (shot put), what a weekend it was in Andover.
That’s not all. Peabody won five of six throwing events, and both 4×100 relay teams snagged second place. Other highlights included Domenic Scalese scoring second in javelin, Evan Bedard catching eyes in triple jump, and Logan Tracia running the mile in 4:28.1.
Next on Peabody’s schedule is a meet against Danvers on Wednesday. Will the Tanners keep dominating, or have they met their match in the Falcons? Either way, you know Braz and company will bring it. Peabody track and field, good week.
