LYNN — The Lynn Jets lacrosse team (8-6) welcomed Revere to Manning Field on Tuesday. With parents and fans filling things up on senior night, the home team didn’t disappoint, beating the Patriots 10-6.

The Jets delivered a well-balanced performance, showing their defensive stability and offensive skillset. The goals were spread around – much to the liking of Lynn coach Peter Pappagianopoulos.

“We played well. Everybody played and worked hard,” Pappagianopoulos said. “The seniors played really well. It was good to see.”

The Jets opened with the first three goals to take the lead after one. Lynn’s Nick Costa scored after refusing to be checked, dodging defenders, and firing one past Revere’s goalie.

The Jets were patient in the second. Revere dominated possession, but when the Jets got the ball, they worked the ball around to establish a set offense.

“We finally started to slow down the offense and set up our offense. It’s something that was missing in the last couple of games,” Pappagianopoulos said.

Proving how versatile it is, Lynn had five goal-scorers, including a first varsity goal from Alexander Wonoski.

“Wonoski scored his first goal today. I’m very happy for him,” Pappagianopoulos said. “It’s a team effort. It’s not a one-man show on this team. It’s senior night, so everyone wanted to score and I understand it, but for the most part, they worked as a team.”

When asked about his seniors, Pappagianopoulos credited them for “turning the program around.”

“Their freshman year, we didn’t have a season because of covid. Sophomore year, we only had 13 players,” Pappagianopoulos said. “They took their licks, stuck with it, and worked through it. They went from a winless season, to a tournament team last year, and we’re in position to make it again this year.”

The Jets look to continue their winning ways against St. Mary’s on Friday with the opening faceoff set for 7 p.m.
