LYNN — Two arrests have been made in connection with the drive-by shooting of a 15-year-old on March 21, the Police Department announced.
24-year-old Christopher Cruz, of Brighton, has been charged with armed assault to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The other arrest was of a 17-year-old juvenile from Lynn, who faces the same charges as Cruz.
On March 21, Lynn Police responded to a shooting around 4:45 p.m. on Fayette Street. The 15-year-old was riding a motorized scooter at the time of the shooting and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec told Boston.com in March.
The arrests came after the Lynn Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Gang Unit, in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, performed an “extensive investigation,” according to the department’s announcement.
Cruz was arraigned in Lynn District Court on Thursday afternoon and a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf. He is being held without bail, pending a final dangerousness hearing on May 25.
