Lynnfield’s girls lacrosse team flexed its offensive prowess against Shawsheen Tech, scoring 17 goals in a 17-7 win.
It’s impressive to score 100 goals in your career, it’s even more impressive to do it as a sophomore which is exactly what Taylor Valiton did. Valiton scored her 100th career goal in Monday’s win.
Valiton scored six goals on the day including one assist.
Charlotte Radulski contributed with three goals, while Chloe Considine registered two goals and an assist.
Junior Casey Flynn recorded six saves in net.
Lynnfield will look to continue its winning ways when they take on Winchester on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
BASEBALL

Reading 0
The Rams (16-2) continue to roll, shutting out Reading on Monday.
TJ Walsh was on the mound for the Rams and he went all seven innings, striking out five with zero walks.
Almani Gerardo went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Teammate Christian Spates recorded a two-RBI double, while Darnell Leon contributed with one RBI and two runs scored.
The Rams next game is Friday against Swampscott at 4 p.m.

Winthrop 5
The Magicians (11-7) never quit, even if they were behind at one point 4-1. The Magicians rallied behind a big fourth inning, scoring five runs to take the lead.
Winthrop added a run back in the fifth inning, but the Magicians made sure to add an insurance run in the sixth inning to see the game out.
When the game is tight, Giardi calls on Chris Cannuscio, who added another save to his record. In the last five Magicians victories, Cannuscio recorded four saves and one win.
Saugus 6
Gloucester 5
In a back-and-forth game, the Sachems held off Gloucester to record the win.
Cam Bernard started the game for Saugus, going 6 ⅓ innings while allowing five runs and striking out nine. Pitcher Jordan Rodriguez earned the victory on the mound, going 1 ⅔ innings and striking out two.
Cam Soroko homered in the fifth inning, which was one of the Sachems’ 13 hits on the day. Soroko’s hot bat continued throughout the game, going a perfect 4-for-4.
SOFTBALL

Swampscott 0
Despite the defeat, there are some positives to take from the game.
Pitcher Hayden Haskell went the full six innings and only gave up three earned runs, while catcher CeCe O’Connor “played well behind the plate,” according to Big Blue coach Gary Moran.
Michelle Hayes made her first start at shortstop and made “several” plays.

The Pioneers’ (10-8) offense struggled against Pentucket’s pitching. Lynnfield only registered three hits on the day.
Lauren Amico had two singles, while teammate Catie Kampersal recorded the other hit.

It was a tough afternoon for the Magicians. The Falcons protected their home diamond, forcing the Magicians to go home empty-handed.
Ruby Calienes went 3-for-4 with one RBI, while teammate Tessa Andriano went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
The Magicians’ next game is on Tuesday when they face Malden Catholic at Endicott College, with the game scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

The bats were hot for the Rams in their win. Junior Lauren Wilson hit a two-run home run in addition to racking up five RBI on the day.
Manuela Lizardo went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. Fellow senior Eliana Alas went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI.

Lynnfield’s complete game was too much for Winthrop on Monday. When your offense scores 16 goals, it is difficult for most teams to overcome.
The win moves Lynnfield to 10-8 on the season.

The Magicians (6-12) lost a close game against North Reading on Monday afternoon.
Lucy Wales led the Magicians with four goals, while teammate Sydney Langton contributed with a hat trick of goals.

St. Mary’s went on the road and picked up a victory against a talented Malden Catholic team.
Payton Quirk was a key reason for the Spartans victory, registering 19 saves.
Ava Nason, Kasey Litwin, Gabbi Oakes, and Jill Kirby all recorded two goals each. Abbie Poole and Vanessa Hall both registered a goal.

Manchester-Essex 1
Marblehead outplayed a solid Manchester-Essex team to improve its record to 14-3 on the season.
Mika Garber (6-1, 6-0), Jost Eggebrecht (6-3, 6-4), and Matthew Sherf (6-2, 6-0) all won their respective matches. Doubles team Etan Farfel and Jayden Janock didn’t lose a set, winning their match 6-0, 6-0.

The Pioneers (10-6) fell to a talented Magicians team.
Lynnfield’s first and second singles Paige Martino and Genna Gioioso, respectively, picked up the Pioneers’ two points.
Martino won her match 6-1, 6-0, while Gioioso won her match 7-5, 6-4.
For the Magicians, Lucia Levin and Aoife Bresnahan won their doubles match 6-2, 7-6, (7-3). Charly Cooper won her third singles match, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
With the match tied at 2-2, it was Courtney Yoder and Aviva Bornstien getting the better of their opponents, winning their match 6-4, 6-4 and ultimately earning Marblehead the team victory.
VOLLEYBALL

The Tigers made program history on Monday, winning its first boys volleyball match with a victory against KIPP (25-23, 25-19, 31-29).
Leading the way for the Tigers was Didlaire Jacques Jr., who finished the game with 10 kills and three blocks. Jephthah Onyighichi added nine kills and four blocks, while teammate Jayden Tran had 11 digs and four aces.
Elmer Duran, Keury Mena, and Joseph Amaro were everywhere on the court. Duran had eight digs, five assists, two blocks and two kills. Mena had 10 digs, three aces and one kill. Amaro contributed with six digs and one ace.
TRACK AND FIELD
GBL Meet
The Lynn English Bulldogs came to race in Monday’s GBL meet.
Victoria Samual took first place in the 100-meters with a time of 13.1.
Samual also took part in the 4×100 relay team that won. The team ran a 53.2 and comprised Samual, Dani Diroche, Abetty Kivenghi, and Aida Bellal.
