Ruby Calienes gave up four hits to go with six strikeouts as Marblehead’s softball team (9-11) snatched a 12-0 road victory against Ipswich Friday. It was also coach Jonathan Gold’s 200th win as head coach of the program.
Do-it-all Calienes tacked on a hit in the fifth inning, but Eva Walton led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a double, two singles, and three RBI.
Luka Bornhorst went 3-for-4 with an RBI, catcher Isabel Mortensen went 3-for-5 and made the defensive play of the game with a diving catch.
Ashley Mortensen, Lyla McGovern, and Sophie Hallisey all had two hits apiece.
SOFTBALL
Nashoba 16
Lynn Tech 1
In the final game of Tech’s (3-16) softball season, Nashoba got the better of the Tigers en route to a 16-1 decision.
Tech’s lone run was scored by Zoe Wilson on a hit to center field by Keila McGregor. Mahlyna Williams played well defensively at second base, according to coach Beth Mercaldi.

St. Mary’s baseball team (12-6) is headed to the Doug Mullins championship game against Lynn Classical at Fraser Field on Saturday (2 p.m.).
In the Spartans’ 9-0 win against Lynn English, Tad Giardina had two hits for two RBI to lead the offense, while Tommy Falasca struck out nine and allowed just three hits in his complete-game win.
Fenwick 6
Manchester-Essex 2
The Bishop Fenwick baseball team (15-5) took care of business against Manchester-Essex 6-2 Friday evening. Better yet, it was in enemy territory.
Mike Geissler struck out nine and allowed just one hit across five innings. Nick Villano went home with three RBI for Fenwick, while Josh Scali, Andrew McKenzie, and Will McFadden secured the other three.
Nashoba 10
Lynn Tech 8
Despite eight runs, Lynn Tech (9-10) fell to Nashoba 10-8 Friday. Runs came late, but they weren’t enough to steal a victory.
“Tough loss tonight,” Tech coach Edward Lewis said. “We had a slow start and just gassed out at the end.”
The Tigers have one final chance to make the Division 4 state tournament – that’ll be a home game Monday against Salem Academy at 10 a.m.

Swampscott 11

The Big Blue (12-4) ended their regular season with a bang. Brooke Waters scored four goals and an assist, while Coco Clopton ripped a hat trick to lead the way offensively.
Abby Eichler scored a goal alongside her two assists, Avery Laundry put up two goals and an assist, and Sophia Ciciotti scored a goal.
On a side note, Swampscott played a man down for the final seven minutes of the game.

Caitlin Snow of Peabody’s girls lacrosse team (13-5) secured a career-high 15 saves and picked up her 250th career save in her team’s 11-10 victory against Acton-Boxborough (10-6), which is ranked No. 12 in Division 1.
Brooke Lomasney scored five goals, Madi Barrett scored four, and both Ally Bettencourt and Angela Fabbo added a goal apiece.
Peabody, ranked No. 23 in Division 1, registered 20 ground balls and caused eight turnovers in its upset win.

The Peabody girls tennis team (8-6) ended its regular season with a 5-0 win against Winthrop, qualifying the Tanners for a plug-in match in the Division 1 tournament.
Jessica Chau (6-2, 6-3), Valentina Goga (6-4, 6-1), and Yasmine Giacalone (6-3, 6-1) went 1-2-3 in singles, while the combinations of Jill McGrath-Theodosia Kourtelidis (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Vanessa Kolani-Argiro Psyhogios (6-0, 6-1) took care of doubles business.
TRACK AND FIELD
St. Mary’s Kyle Kwiatek hit a 26-second personal best to take fifth place in the Division 5 state championship 2-mile with a, frankly, incredible time of 9:38.57. He also qualified for the all-state competition next weekend.
On the girls’ side, Tina Amin (200m, 29.67) and Kelsey Kwiatek (400m, hurdles, personal record of 1:14.85) impressed in their respective events.
