You know what I’ve been thinking? Peabody girls lacrosse coach Michelle Roach was ecstatic as ever following her team’s win against Acton-Boxborough Friday – and for good reason.
The Tanners checked off a lot of boxes this week. First things first, they showed some serious mental toughness in their 20-19 victory against Boston Latin to kick off the week. Not a lot of teams can win such a high-scoring affair, but Ally Bettencourt ripped one in overtime to polish off a – for sure – game-of-the-year candidate.
Then they showed their firepower. Peabody quadrupled Danvers 16-4 on their home turf two days later. Doing what they do best, Brooke Lomasney finished with seven goals and two assists, while Bettencourt added four goals and a helper. Caitlin Snow – who picked up her 250th save this week – stood strong between the pipes with 11 saves.
But Friday, man, Friday was something else. No. 23 Peabody took on No. 12 Acton-Boxborough, escaping with an 11-10 victory. Snow made 15 more saves, Lomasney added five more goals, and the upset win was complete.
The Tanners play with energy, and it’s no coincidence they’re 13-5. They finished the regular season with a bang, and now, it’s tourney time. Peabody, good week.
