You know what I’ve been thinking? Marblehead’s baseball team picked up not one, but two, impressive wins in postseason action this week.
The Magicians began their tournament journey against Somerville, squeezing by in a wild 13-11 finish. Good teams start early, and six consecutive batters recorded RBI in an eight-run second inning for Marblehead.
Add a highlight-reel defensive play from Shane Keough and a solid performance from Chris Cannuscio (2 strikeouts) in relief, and what a day it made.
Moving forward, Cannuscio said he wanted Marblehead to “shock the state” with a win against Hopkinton. Well, consider it a storm, because the Magicians doubled up Hopkinton 8-4 Monday.
Riley Schmitt had two hits and an RBI, Matt Mahan had two RBI, and Stefan Shepard had two hits to lead an explosive offense. Backing up his words, Cannuscio added another two strikeouts in relief.
