Nonprofits to team up in Lynn wtih Someone Else’s Child Foundation

LYNN — Nine nonprofits from the city and the surrounding area will come together to celebrate local leaders at the Lynn Leaders Event, a fundraiser held by Someone Else’s Child Foundation at Lynn Museum on June 15 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The foundation is a nonprofit organization that works to address youth disparities by connecting young people to different opportunities, according to its website. It has been funding organizations in the Lynn area for decades, Director of Advancement and Communications Katrina Brink said.

The organizations at the event will be Building Audacity, the Food Project, Girls Inc. of Lynn, KIPP Massachusetts, LEAP for Education, Lynn English High School, Lynn Museum/LynnArts, Northeast Arc, and the YMCA of Metro North.

“Those nine nonprofits in Lynn are all organizations that we feel are amazing and have amazing leaders and have been great partners,” Brink said. “We said, ‘What if we really come together and talk about what great leaders you are, and start a conversation about what’s great in the community and what we want more of?’”

When planning the fundraising event, the foundation realized they wanted to hear from young people, she said.

“At the event, young people representing nine organizations will facilitate activities that will entertain and educate attendees on the ‘treasures of Lynn,’” a press release from Someone Else’s Child said. “This community celebration is meant to showcase Lynn’s young leaders and initiate a dialogue to create momentum for collaboration, change, and opportunity beyond the event.”

This event will also serve as a way for the staff of Someone Else’s Child to make more connections in Lynn, since the organization has only had staff for about a year and a half, Brink said.

“So for us, this has been an amazing opportunity to really see the youth and adult leaders in action during the planning, and we’re excited to celebrate with them on Thursday,” Brink said.

Local food and beverages will be provided, and there will be a performance from local dancers.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at someoneelseschild.org.
