NEW YORK, N.Y. — This year, the Tony Awards ceremony was held at the United Palace theater, located in Washington Heights. This theater is absolutely beautiful, yet has less seating than the usual location of Radio City Music Hall. Thousands of performers, producers, writers, directors, cast members, costume designers, scenic designers, and composers came together to hear who won the 26 awards handed out.

Everybody was dressed to impress on the red carpet. I’m going to give my personal top honor to Antwayn Hopper — talk about a standout outfit! Hopper won a Tony in 2023 for “A Strange Loop,” which was produced by Peabody’s own Ken Silverman.

Let’s give a big shout-out to Alex Newell from Lynn for winning the Best Featured Actor award for “Shucked,” which is a must-see. Also in the same category was the amazingly talented Kevin Cahoon, who may be a familiar face from the TV shows “Glow” and “Monarch.”

Scenic designer Tim Hatley, who won a Tony for “Life of Pi,” got to enjoy Boston when the show opened here at A.R.T., and he hopes to return one day to see more sights!

There was no script this year, but the show was seamless.
