The Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unit found the body of Dickson “Joel” De Los Reyes, of Lynn, who has been missing since June 11, in marshland along Route 107 in Revere.
“MSP divers made the recovery shortly after 8:30 PM, after a State Police Air Wing flight crew conducting an aerial search observed Mr. De Los Reyes’ body in the Rumney Marsh Reservation,” a statement from state police said.
The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County announced on Friday that there was an investigation on the disappearance of De Los Reyes, of Lynn, who did not return home after leaving a party in Chelsea in the early morning of June 11, according to state police.
At 3:43 a.m. on June 11, De Los Reyes got into a Lyft, a ride-share vehicle, in front of 169 Shurtleff St., Chelsea, state police said in a statement Friday afternoon.
“The [Lyft] ride was terminated at approximately 3:56 a.m. on the same date,” the statement said. “Upon termination of the ride, De Los Reyes’ cell-phone number dialed 911 and was connected to Revere Police. The call disconnected and several attempts to call the number back by police were unsuccessful.”
State police said that according to evidence, the call was made from the area around American Legion Highway in Revere.
“De Los Reyes has not been seen nor heard from since,” the Friday afternoon statement said.
More attempts have been made by state police to locate the phone but have not had success, which indicates that the phone may be turned off.
As of Friday afternoon, officials said the state police dive team is searching marshland off Route 107 on the Revere-Saugus line for evidence related to the disappearance.
State police said the investigation into the facts and circumstances of De Los Reyes’ death is ongoing.
