MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA — A 19-year-old man from Lynn died in a car accident on Route 128 Tuesday morning, officials said.
Massachusetts State Police responded to the accident at 7:19 a.m. and the victim, who is believed to be the passenger, was determined dead on scene.
“The driver, who was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital by medical helicopter, has a Florida address but was also believed to be living in Lynn,” the state police said in a statement.
The 26-year-old driver suffered serious, life-threatening injuries
Officials said that preliminary investigation suggests the driver’s 2009 Honda Civic veered off the road to the right and rolled into the wood line. The speed of the car is is believed to be the contributing factor of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
