PEABODY — The main branch of the city’s library will be serving free lunch to children and teens throughout the summer, along with providing free activities for participating families.
The branch, located at 82 Main St., will be serving free lunches from Tuesday, June 27 until Tuesday, Aug. 22. Meals will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 27 until July 6. Lunches will be served Monday through Thursday from July 10 through Aug. 22. The program will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day the library offers meals.
Each day the library serves lunch, it will offer activities for families participating in the program. The programs will have different themes each day, with crafts on Mondays, lawn games on Tuesdays, water play on Wednesdays, and “thoughtful Thursdays.”
Lunches will also be served at the Higgins Middle School and Veterans Memorial High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 27 to Aug. 22. Meals will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Registration is not required for the events, and lunches are offered to children and teens up to age 18. The program is facilitated by Peabody Public Schools, Citizens Inn, Project Bread, Child Nutrition Outreach Program, and the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
