You know what I’ve been thinking? Actually, it’s a fact that of the four Agganis All-Star Games Sunday, there was only one winner: Team South in baseball.
Yes, with stalemates in the softball and both boys and girls lacrosse games, murmurs of a four-for-four Sunday were spreading around the Agganis Athletic Complex (Fraser and Manning Field in Lynn).
That was, until South’s baseball team decided to put on a show, tripling up North 12-4 beneath the beating 80-degree sun.
Lynn Classical’s Brady Warren went home with two hits and a walk and. Despite not hitting a home run in his last high school at-bat – as planned heading in – the graduate said Sunday was one of his favorite experiences as an athlete.
They may have been spring rivals, but it’s summer, am I right? Warren’s teammate, Brendan Falasca of Lynn English, impressed with an inside-the-park home run down center field – on top of catching the entire game.
On a day with seemingly endless storylines, Classical coach Mike Zukowski coached the South to a win before his high school baseball retirement (he still helps out with youth sports). It was his second time coaching an Agganis game, and something tells me he’ll check things out as a fan moving forward.
South, good week.
