You know what I’ve been thinking? Alan Paulino has been making plays for a long time at Memorial Stadium in Peabody, and I, for one, can’t wait to follow his career at Curry College.
He did it again last Wednesday at the Agganis All-Star Football Game. The running back registered two touchdowns and was named South’s Most Valuable Player, which departed from Manning Field 24-7 victors.
When I talked to Paulino postgame, he said he enjoys taking defenders one on one. That’s exactly what he did with 5:19 remaining in the third quarter for a rushing touchdown. Fast forward to the fourth quarter – after former Peabody teammate Shea Lynch carried the offense downfield through the air – Paulino squeezed into the endzone for his second touchdown.
“I guess it was the adrenaline. I don’t know,” Paulino said.
Paulino finished his high school football career with a win and an MVP – against the region’s best, no less. But who’s surprised? This is the same player who recorded 433 receiving yards, 13 total touchdowns, 36 tackles, and two interceptions his senior season.
Alan, good week, and career.
