You know what I’ve been thinking? If you’re looking for a do-it-all baseball player in Swampscott, look no further than Michael Hall of the Little League 12s.
He can pitch, as shown Friday, and hit, shown Sunday. Let’s start with Friday. Hall struck out nine batters against Lynnfield before being relieved in the fifth. The right-handed pitcher throws heat, yet picks his spots with precision.
Sunday evening against Peabody West, let’s just say: I hope you didn’t park near the left-field fence. In the second inning – facing a full count, no less – Hall smashed one that went up and out of Forest River Park.
Not only did it put the Big Blue ahead 2-0 early, but Swampscott Manager Dave Paster said it caught West off guard, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
He wasn’t too shabby at third base, either. Hall scooped grounders and made throws to first with ease, much to the delight of a smiling Paster after the game.
Like I said, a do-it-all baseball player. Hall, good weekend.
