LYNN — The E.F. Gilmore Disabled American Veterans of Lynn and Swampscott will be hosting a free beach party for all veterans and their families at Red Rock Park Sunday.
The free event, which is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m., will feature beach games, food, and drinks. The party is funded by a Better Beaches Grant from the nonprofit Save the Harbor/Save the Bay.
According to E. F. Gilmore DAV Commander Jeffrey Blonder, the event is a partnership between the E.F. Gilmore DAV and Habitat PLUS. It will include representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs and Michael Sweeney, the Lynn and Swampscott veterans service agent, along with other resources for veterans.
“It’s like outreach to veterans, not only to have fun but to learn what your benefits are,” Blonder said. “Veterans sometimes don’t know all the benefits… This will be a fun way to get the information.”
