Swampscott 12s fight hard, but fall short against Reading

Joey Barrett

July 19, 2023 by Joey Barrett

Wednesday night came with its positives, but it wasn’t meant to be for Swampscott. The Little League 12s were defeated by Reading 16-3 in Andover.

Reading got out to an 11-0 lead in the fourth inning, but Michael Hall and the Big Blue weren’t done yet. The righty blasted a three-run homer to make it 11-3, but it was too little, too late.

Wednesday was Swampscott’s first test since becoming District 16 champions with a nail-biting victory against Peabody West last week.

The Big Blue seek vengeance Thursday against Andover (7 p.m.) and Friday against Danvers (5) with a Saturday game dependent on the others. All games will be played at Deyermond Park (Blanchard St.) in Andover.
