LYNN — They may not have taken home the $1.08 billion jackpot from Wednesday’s drawing, but the buyer of a Powerball ticket at a 7-Eleven in Lynn is $50,000 richer.

Forhad Uddin, manager of the 50 Western Ave. location where the ticket was sold, said selling a big winner was exciting for the store. He also said it could be good for business, with customers coming to the store hoping the lottery luck will come their way next.

“It’s a very good thing,” Uddin said. “Everybody is looking for the big ticket.”

The ticket’s owner had yet to come forward as of Thursday, and his identity was still unknown to the 7-Eleven staff. However, Uddin said he’s 100% sure that the winner is a regular customer. Whoever it is, Uddin looks forward to taking a picture with them when they come forward to collect their winnings.

According to Massachusetts Lottery, the city’s largest lottery prize on record is a $2.6 million prize collected from a $10 “$4,000,000 Spectacular” scratch ticket at La Central Market on Washington Street in July 2022.

Massachusetts Lottery listed the highest win at the 50 Western Ave. 7-Eleven before Wednesday as a $20,000 prize won from a $50 “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” scratch ticket in April.

Six other tickets sold in Massachusetts for Wednesday’s Powerball were $50,000 winners, along with one $100,000 winner.

The biggest winners in the Commonwealth for Wednesday’s drawing were three $1 million tickets sold in Waltham, Franklin, and Hadley, with the biggest winner in the country netting $1.08 billion from a ticket sold in Los Angeles.

According to CasinosSweeps.com, Massachusetts ranks first as the most lottery-obsessed state, with a monthly search volume for lottery-related terms at 24,510 per 100,000 searches. The largest lottery win in state history was $758.7 million from a Powerball ticket sold in Chicopee in 2017.
