LYNN — More than 200 veterans participated in Freedom Fish Lynn, a free saltwater-fishing day that raises money for veterans services. The event was sponsored by Mayor Jared Nicholson, EDIC/Lynn, and the Lynn Housing Authority and Neighborhood Development.

Checks for $10,000 each were presented to the Lynn Veterans Council and Disabled and Limbless Veterans, Inc.

Boston anthem singer Todd Angilly performed the Star-Spangled Banner and the Lynn English JROTC presented the colors. George Markos of Brothers Deli donated the food. More than 40 boats and fishing equipment were donated for the veterans’ use. First held in July 2019, the popular event celebrates the bravery and sacrifice of the veterans of Lynn and the surrounding communities. It is open to any veteran or active military member.
