LYNN — Greater Lynn Senior Services has brought on two new staff members for leadership positions. Michele Desmarais is now the director of outreach and operations as well as the safety officer, and Kevin Derrivan is the new chief financial officer.
Desmarais, who recently retired from her position as the city’s public health director, helped guide Lynn during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a press release from GLSS.
GLSS CEO Kathryn Burns said she admired how Desmarais “brought the community together in the face of such an incredibly challenging situation.”
Before becoming the public health director, Desmarais was an administrator at local nursing homes and was on the GLSS Title III Advisory Council. She is currently on the All Care VNA, Hospice, and Home Care Board of Directors.
The director of outreach and operations is a new role for GLSS, according to the press release. As the safety officer, she will work with GLSS leadership to aid in marketing efforts and oversee facilities, reception, and outreach.
Derrivan is a senior-level finance professional and has experience in functional accounting, budgeting, enrollment, and fundraising. He also has recent experience in the higher-education sector, the press release said.
“Kevin has all the qualities we were looking for in a CFO and then some,” Burns said. “In addition to his strength as a financial professional, Kevin also brings expertise to our senior leadership team in so many other areas that will contribute to GLSS’s continued growth and success— everything from strategic planning to employee benefits and fundraising.”
