LYNN — Former Mayor J. Warren Cassidy and his wife, Joan, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June.
According to a June 1953 edition of The Daily Evening Item, the two were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Wakefield and celebrated their honeymoon in the White Mountains. At the time, Joan taught at North Reading Junior High School.
J. Warren would go on to serve as the mayor of Lynn from 1970-72. He was the executive vice president of the National Rifle Association from 1986-91.
The two now live in Mirror Lake, N.H. and celebrated their 70th anniversary at Kingswood Golf Course in Wolfeboro, N.H.
