PEABODY — Fifty residents of Brooksby Village were forced out of their apartments Thursday due to what officials are calling an “isolated water issue” in one of the independent living buildings at the community.
Petra Shaw, a spokesperson for Brooksby Village, said remediation efforts for affected residents are ongoing, but declined to offer any further details about the incident, which was sparked by a pipe in the mechanical room of the Felton’s Crossing building. The water issue was isolated to just Felton’s Crossing, and no one was injured.
“We regret the impact this issue has caused residents and are committed to taking every action necessary to support those affected by this situation,” Shaw said.
In the wake of the incident, Shaw said Brooksby staff has remained in “constant contact” with residents of Felton’s Crossing to “address individual needs.” Staff has also worked with residents to find alternate housing accommodations while remediation and cleanup are underway. A dedicated phone number was also established for residents to receive responses to questions and get accommodations for individual requests.
“The safety and well-being of the residents of Brooksby Village is our top priority,” Shaw said.
