LYNN — Longtime resident Emily Dulong was named to the Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2023 earlier this month for her work with the Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association (MHA).

Dulong was recognized for her leadership and advocacy of equitable and high-quality care for residents of Massachusetts. Since 2018, she has been working toward achieving this as the vice president of Government Advocacy and Public Policy at MHA, the unified voice for the state’s hospitals and health care providers. Prior to that, she was the director of operations for the Massachusetts Council of Community Hospitals.

Dulong graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston’s McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies and was a 2018 fellow of the Massachusetts Health Leadership College.

She has also been involved in various communities in town alongside her work at MHA. Dulong has worked with Girls Inc. of Lynn in a bid to increase the confidence of girls and prepare the next generation of women for the workforce. She was honored for her volunteerism at the organization.

Dulong has acted as a bridge between the community of Lynn and health care providers and policymakers for various public-health issues, especially the COVID-19 crisis.

Before entering the health care landscape, Dulong was the chief of staff for state Rep. Steven Walsh, who represented Lynn for six terms.

“This is an extraordinary recognition for an extraordinary member of the Lynn community,” said Walsh, who is now MHA’s president and CEO. “Emily has spent her career improving our health care system, mentoring rising professionals, and making her hometown a better place. I am proud to see Emily recognized for her outstanding work. She is only getting started.”
