LYNN — A local veteran’s newly renovated home is set to make its small-screen debut.

The remodeled home of Jason Carmody, who is a veteran of the National Guard, will be revealed during the season finale of “Military Makeover with Montel” on Friday at 7:30 a.m. on Lifetime.

“We couldn’t be more grateful,” Carmody said. “And very humbled.”

Carmody and his wife, Alyssa, moved into their Lynn home in 2011, where they have raised their four children ever since.

According to Carmody, in the past few years, he and his wife had been exploring the idea of renovating the home but had concerns about high costs.

“My wife and I have been going back and forth over the past few years, saying ‘We need a new roof, we’re super unhappy with the kitchen, we really have to redo the basement,’” Carmody said. “It was a gift of such immense magnitude that it happened when it did… It’s such an immense blessing.”

Carmody joined the Massachusetts National Guard in 2003 and served with the Massachusetts 972d Military Police Company. His time in the National Guard included deployments working major events and national disasters, such as relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, as well as a nearly yearlong deployment in Iraq in 2007.

He went on to work as a dispatcher with the Saugus Police Department before beginning work with the Department of Veterans Affairs as an officer at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Bedford, where he currently serves as a captain.

“Being out of the military, I kind of missed that camaraderie of being around other veterans,” Carmody said. “The job there was literally to serve those who served and protect those who served.”

Several companies, including General Electric and DuPont, sponsored the show and provided resources for the renovation.

Dave Tavacol, brand leader for home improvement at DuPont, said that the company was excited to be able to contribute to the show and support someone who had served his country.

“When the folks at ‘Military Makeover’ reached out to us… We were really excited,” Tavacol said.

“It’s things like that that we really live for,” he added. “It was awesome to watch the reveal and see everyone excited.”

Carmody said he was grateful for the work that De La Rosa Roofing and other members of the community did for his family.

“The community in Lynn is incredible,” Carmody said.
