LTE: Jeff Newhall for Ward 1 councilor

To the editor

August 31, 2023 by To the editor

To the editor:

I am honored to write in support of Jeff Newhall, who I hope will be the next Ward 1 councilor. I have known Jeff and the Newhall family through local sports for many years. Jeff and his family have contributed to many Lynn activities — Wyoma Little League, for one — and as lifelong Lynners have been huge contributors to the city, especially its children.

As a lifelong Ward 1 resident, Jeff is aware of the many problems and difficult times the people of Ward 1 and Lynn have gone through. In his capacity as athletic director and coach at St. Mary’s, Jeff has helped many students and their families, often guiding students through high school and beyond.

He will be a great asset to Ward 1 residents. He has worked closely with the mayor, city councilors, School Committee members, state delegates, DPW workers, and City Hall staff, as well as police, fire departments, coaches, and athletic directors in the city. With his great personality and contributions, he has created many great friendships throughout the city.

Jeff can hit the ground running and get to the issues the ward is facing such as plowing, street cleaning, and traffic because he faces them also. He is a great family man to his wife and children and can be counted on for those who need his help. He is someone who will be readily available to help anyone, anytime. This I speak to from experience.

I hope everyone eligible will vote in the primary and general elections, and I hope the voters of Ward 1 will cast their votes for Jeff Newhall.

Sincerely,

John Hoffman, Channel 15 sports

Lynn
