Peabody (1-1) got its first win of the season after a competitive match against Winthrop in enemy territory. The final score was 37.5-34.5.
The Tanners boasted five winners on the day with Mason Clickstein, Mike Petro, Matt Ryder, Nathan Palhare, and Jason Houlden all getting the job done.
After the match, Peabody coach Peter Cronan singled out a few individuals for their play.
“Mason had the biggest margin of victory today, winning 7-2. He played really well.” Cronan said. “Mike Petro, who was our number four today, also played well, winning 6-3. Another player who did well on the day was Jason Houlden, who won his match 6-3.”
The Tanners look for more on Tuesday when they play Masco at the Meadow at Peabody Golf Course.
“It was a very close match,” Cronan said. “It was a nail-biter, but I think my team learned a valuable lesson that they can’t just show up to win and to not take anyone lightly.”
