LYNN — Several members of the Lynn Rotary Club helped fill new school backpacks for hundreds of Lynn students on Friday, Aug. 25.
Throughout the past several weeks, the Salvation Army, in conjunction with WFXT Boston 25, collected donations of school supplies and monetary donations in the greater Lynn area. This past weekend, the Boston 25 truck was at the Walmart store collecting donations.
Walmart has partnered with Boston 25 and the Salvation Army for several years in order to provide much-needed supplies to students who may not be able to afford them. Rotarians Steve Upton, Steve Krause, and Bill Reilly helped in that effort, known as “Stuff the Bus.”
The school-supplies collection is something the Salvation Army has been involved with over the last several years.
Backpacks are filled with the supplies at various Salvation Army locations throughout the area and subsequently distributed to the students. The Lynn Rotarians are the organization that has, for several years, been the group that stuffed the backpacks for Lynn.
