One person dead after second shooting in Lynn Saturday

September 3, 2023 by James Bartlett

LYNN — A man was shot and killed Saturday night on Lincoln Street.

Police were alerted at around 11:01 p.m. and arrived on the scene to find a man in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a press release from Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker and Police Chief Chris Reddy.

The man was later pronounced dead after being taken to Salem Hospital.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim and said the investigation is ongoing, but noted they do not believe the incident is related to the shooting on Essex Street Saturday morning that left two dead and five others injured.

In a statement, Mayor Jared Nicholson expressed his condolences and said that although the two shootings on Saturday do not appear to be related, the city remains concerned about the risk of escalating violence.

“Another family’s worst fears were realized early this morning,” Nicholson said. “I am deeply sorry for their loss and I know that our community will rally as we confront the collective fear heightened by the events of this weekend.”
