LYNN — Voters in the city will cast their ballots in the preliminary election today.
City Council ward races will take center stage.
The six-candidate race for Ward 1 city councilor will be whittled down to two after all the votes are counted. Voters will decide who will face off for the seat that was held by departing Ward 1 City Councilor Wayne Lozzi for two decades.
Todd Bacon, Paul Gouthro, Jennifer Long, Peter Meaney, Jeff Newhall, and Michael Satterwhite are the candidates for Ward 1 city councilor this year.
The three-person race between Donna Coppola, Chris Gomez, and Natasha Megie-Maddrey for Ward 4 city councilor will also become a two-person contest.
Voters will decide the final outcomes of all races on Nov. 7.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.
