LYNN — The city will host its second Lynnside Out festival on Saturday, Sept. 9.
The free event, which is a collaboration between the city and Lynn Museum/LynnArts, will take place on the grounds of Frederick Douglass Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is meant to make municipal resources more accessible and approachable for residents.
“This festival is to showcase that City Hall is a place for everyone and we want our residents to know that all our departments and our office are always available for any support and assistance they may be seeking,” Mayor Jared Nicholson said in a statement. “Lynnside Out is a great way to connect residents with the initiatives that we are working on at City Hall and to keep them engaged with ongoing projects that require their input to be successful.”
The event, which will feature more than a dozen city departments, is an opportunity for residents to be exposed to all of the departments and services the city has to offer, according to City Council President Jay Walsh.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for residents to connect with the departments and staff members that work so hard to serve them while also enjoying activities and amazing performances,” Walsh said.
Departments attending include the Planning Department, which is currently in the process of doing public engagement for the upcoming seven-year Open Space and Recreation Plan, as well as the City Clerk and Elections Office, which will be offering assistance and information to residents on the services available in that office.
“We encourage all residents interested in our services, such as how to open a business, register to vote, or obtain a license or permit, to visit our tent,” City Clerk/Election Chief Janet Rowe said.
Along with municipal services, several community organizations will also be present, including MassHIRE, Lynn Community Health Center, and the city’s Food Security Task Force, which will be offering fresh produce.
Free food from local businesses like D’empanadas, Golden Monkey Cafe, Phinix Lounge, and B Sweet will also be offered, along with activities including face painting, lawn games, and a bounce house.
Creative Collective LLC has also put together a diverse list of musicians and entertainers who will be performing at Frederick Douglass Park.
