LYNN — Three juveniles were taken into custody in connection with an alleged assault with a machete and robbery Wednesday afternoon.
Public Information Officer Lt. Rick Connick wrote in a statement that at 2:56 p.m., multiple Lynn Police units responded to a report of a robbery in the area of 71 Fayette St. At the scene, they found two juvenile males.
The males told the police that they had been approached by another group, at which time one of the males was assaulted with a machete while the other’s backpack was stolen. They said that the other group then fled.
One of the males had a laceration on his back, but Connick wrote that the victim only sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.
A short time later, according to Connick, three juvenile males were stopped and identified in connection to the robbery.
“They were then taken into custody for delinquency by reason of armed robbery, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and trespassing,” Connick wrote.
