You know what I’ve been thinking? Peabody’s Alex Silva must have been ready for football season, because he came to play in week 1.
In the Tanners’ 35-0 thrashing of Revere in enemy territory, Silva scored a pair of touchdowns and rushed for nearly 100 yards. He also went home with five tackles and averaged more than 8 yards per carry.
When asked who impressed him Friday night, Peabody coach Mark Bettencourt jumped right to Silva – one of his five captains.
“Alex played a great game,” Bettencourt said.
Silva sliced-and-diced his way to the promised land for Peabody’s first touchdown of the season in the first quarter, a 6-yarder (7-0 after the kick). Towards the end of the first half, he snagged his second touchdown with a 3-yard burst to the endzone (28-0).
The Tanners host Lynn Classical Friday night at 7 p.m. Will the Rams charge right back at Silva after a thrilling overtime victory, or will Silva continue his hot start?
Alex, good week.
