The Lynn Classical volleyball team recorded its second win of the season defeating Revere in straight sets on Monday. Winning on the road is never easy, but the Rams had to start their season with back-to-back road games and came out victorious in both.
The Rams were too powerful for the Minutemen winning the first set 25-5 and the second set 25-7. In the third set, Revere tried to mount a comeback, but the Rams remained poised and closed out the match winning the final set 25-20.
Junior Jaiyda DeBenedetto led the Rams with 12 aces and 23 points on serve. Not only did DeBenedetto serve well, but she recorded two kills as well.
Junior Amanda Hughes finished the game with 10 kills and an impressive hitting rate of 82 percent.
Sophomore setter Emma Chevalier provided 19 assists to her teammates to help move the Rams to 2-0.
Classical’s next match is on Wednesday at home against Medford with the game scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m.

The Tanners stormed into enemy territory and walked away with the win on Monday. Peabody’s goals were scored by Kacper Kowalczyk (1 goal and 1 assist), Eli Loring and Abu Kaba. Midfielder AJ Forte provided an assist.
Head coach Stan McKeen said goalie Dylan Flanagan was “outstanding.”
The win moves Peabody to 2-0 on the season.

The Tanners dominated the Witches on Monday evening. Ally Bettencourt netted a hat trick to lead Peabody. Connie Patturelli also contributed to the scoring with a goal. Peabody’s Gabby Meola (2 assists) and Brooke Lomasney (1 assist) were the playmakers for the home team.

The Magicians (2-0) fended off rival Swampscott at home. Marblehead got out to a fast start as Ava Machado delivered a perfect cross to Liv Carlson who made sure to put away the chance to give the Magicians an early lead.
In the second half Talia Selby launched a shot from 40 yards out that lobbed the Big Blue goalie and hit the underside of the crossbar to double the Magicians lead.
Goalie Kate Burns added a second consecutive clean sheet to her name.
Despite the loss, Swampscott coach Jaymie Caponigro praised her freshman goalie.
“Eve Byrne played well and made some big saves during crucial moments,” Caponigro said.

The Crusaders flashed their offensive potential on Monday afternoon scoring four goals. Fenwick can score in a variety of ways and they have multiple players who can score goals given an opportunity to shoot. Celia Neilson, Samantha Dormer, Kiera Morgan and Lauren Woods all got on the scoresheet.

The Spartans tie their season opener against Weston. Cassidy Cheney scored the lone goal for the Spartans. St. Mary’s was due to play Weston at home but had to relocate to Weston due to bus availability. The Spartans first home game of the season will be on Monday.
VOLLEYBALL

It was a clean sweep for the St. Mary’s volleyball team winning in straight sets. After a close first set (25-20), the Spartans got control of the match and won convincingly thereon in. St. Mary’s won the second set 25-12 and the third set 25-16.
Vanessa Magloire recorded 18 assists with six aces. Teammate Anastasia Mason played very well defensively and finished with seven aces to help lead the Spartans to 2-0 on the season.

The St. Mary’s golf team continues to roll with a strong win over Danvers. Shea Newhall (31 points) and Micah Hashikawa (28) led the Spartans on the day. Andrew Potter (26), Stephen Nasson (25), and Chase Collins (24) all played well for St. Mary’s.
St. Mary’s will look to keep up its winning ways against Malden Catholic on Wednesday.
