Both the Lynn Tech boys (1-1) and girls (2-0) cross country teams ran to glory on Tuesday, topping Minuteman in close meets. The boys won 27-28 while the girls followed 26-31.
Top runners for the girls were Faith Akinbami, Elizabeth Gallo, Gisell Rodriquez, Estrella Martinez, Mildred Mendez, and Briana Anderson. Top performers on the boys side were Bryton Osgood, Diego Castro, Franklin Rodriquez, Liam Carmody, Jeffrey Esquite, and Kevin Smart.
“Everyone pushed hard when needed for the close win,” Tech coach John Hogan said.
CROSS COUNTRY
St. Mary’s cross country coach Tristan Smith called Bishop Feehan a “deep” program Tuesday. He was right. The Shamrocks were victorious in both boys and girls action.
Kyle Kwiatek (17:15) and Matt Terrien (18:19) finished first and second for the boys, while Kelsey Kwiatek (3rd, 22:41), Nina Lopes (11th, 26:01), and Sophia O’Brien (16th, 26:42) led the girls.
The Bishop Fenwick girls swept their conference rivals in a tri-meet in Peabody. The Crusaders outran Archbishop Williams 22-33 and Bishop Stang 15-49 behind strong performances from Julia Davis, Marianna Kay, and Adelaide Sweatman. Olivia Rowe, Caroline Blatchford, and Emily Elliott also ran well.
The boys suffered a tough loss to a veteran Archbishop Williams team 17-43, but won against Bishop Stang 28-29. Sam Appleyard led the Crusaders with a sixth place finish, followed closely by his twin brother Doron in ninth. The Fenwick pack led by John Reilly (13th), Nondas Lagonakis (15th), Ryan Gauthier (16th), Luis Araujo (17th), and Michael Mazzarella (20th) helped “cement the win” according to coach Fred Doyle.

The Rams (2-1) took care of business at Stoneham Oaks, doubling up Everett for the win. Winners for Classical were Cooper Dalferro (6-3), Brayden Curley (6.5-2.5), Kyle McKenna (7.5-1.5), and Omar Medina (7-2).

The Spartans (5-2) remain perfect in the conference, besting Arlington Catholic 193-156 Tuesday at Gannon Municipal Golf Course.
Andrew Potter (32 points), Matt Smith (31), Micah Hashikowa (29), Kyle Rush (28), Stephen Nason (25), Josh Doney (25), and Chase Collins (23) all produced for the hosts.
“We’ve got a very consistent top seven or eight. We’ve been playing pretty well lately,” coach Jay Fiste said. “Everything is good so far.”
St. Mary’s takes on Archbishop Williams Thursday, to which Fiste said, “That’ll be a good one.”

Despite Tech’s (3-3) dominance in the first 30 minutes and 1-0 lead at halftime courtesy of Rose Mendez off an assist from Emily Zacarias, Minuteman scored quickly in the second half and three more times in the final 20 minutes.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t keep up the intensity after getting too comfortable with our lead, which led to underperforming and frustration,” coach JD Perry said. “Minutemen started the second half with a strong offensive push.”
Perry also applauded Angela Reyes and Lovelly Merida for their “strong effort and leadership.”

The Spartans (2-1-1) kicked off their Catholic Central campaign with a dominant 5-0 win at Manning Field. Kasey Litwin scored two goals for St. Mary’s, followed by Vanessa Hall (1) and Shelby Racki (1). Tabby Lopes and Gianna Triangle split time in net to earn the clean sheet.

Swampscott’s field hockey team (4-0) just keeps on winning. Tuesday, the Big Blue hunted down the Panthers 3-0. Coco Clopton scored the first goal of the game, followed by Lucy Brown and Maisie Russo.
Russo also dished out two assists, while Sophia Ciciotti added another helper. Lilah Caplan stood strong with a shutout for the Big Blue, who return to action at home Thursday against Marblehead in the American Cancer Society fundraiser game.

Despite Daniella White registering 16 saves in “impressive” fashion according to coach Jillian Tobin, the Tanners were defeated by Gloucester 10-0.
